Tehran, Baghdad take long stride to expand cultural, artistic, religious ties

Tehran, IRNA – Culture ministers of Iran and Iraq in a bilateral meeting here on Sunday emphasized need to broaden and deepen comprehensive interactions in cultural, artistic and religious field.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili in his meeting with the visiting Iraqi Culture Minister Hassan Nadhim at Tehran Vahdat Opera Hall referred to the cultural and civilizational commonalties of the two nations and exchanged views on improvement of bilateral cultural and artistic interactions.

Esmaili told his Iraqi counterpart that it has been arranged that a joint communique will be signed on bilateral cultural, artistic and religious cooperation with the friendly and brother Iraqi government.

Referring to the previous talks with the Iraqi culture minister, the minister of culture and Islamic guidance said that the MOU that is going to be signed aimed a facilitating to a greater extent for the Iranian pilgrims of Imam Hossein (AS) in Arbaeen rituals.

He also referred to an agreement on bilateral cinematographic cooperation, as well as various theatrical and artistic programs in the two countries’ culture weeks.

The Iraqi culture minister, too, referred to his visits of Qom and Mashad during the past days, arguing that the negotiations with Iranian officials were very promising and Iran and Iraq can thus have lots of shared cultural and artistic productions.

Hassan Nadhim also referred to the upcoming signing of joint communique for joint cultural, artistic and religious works, including holding an Iran Film Week in Baghdad in near future.
